Have you been asked to read in the past, and would like to do so again? Would you like to, but feel unqualified? Would you like your name on the "call list" for Sunday readers? What is PAR? - PAR stands for Pre-Authorized Remittance
PAR is a program for the local church administered by the Department of Stewardship Services of The United Church of Canada. PAR allows you to contribute to your local church through a monthly withdrawal from your bank. You can designate your gift to Local Church Expenses, Mission and Service Fund, and Building Reserve Fund, just as you would on an offering envelope. Your account will be debited on or about the 20th of the month and your congregation's account credited with the amount payable from all members who participate. Application forms are available from the church office or from church bulletin boards. Dick Acheson is our church PAR Steward. He can be reached at 342-0425 or by email and will be glad to answer any questions, sign-up new members or make changes to your PAR givings.

The Benevolent Fund is used to respond to the immediate needs of the congregation and the community. Your offering is appreciated. Envelopes are available on Communion Sundays for your convenience.

    MISSION AND SERVICE FUND
    DID YOU KNOW?
    * The Mission and Service Fund is a pooled fund in the United Church of Canada. In 2003, 49% of the revenue came from our voluntary gifts to M&S. 42% of the expenses went to ministry support and outreach in Canada and throughout the world. That means that, effectively, 82% of our contributions to M&S directly support ministry and outreach in Canada and abroad. (See the pie charts on the Outreach bulletin board.) However, at any time you may direct your entire M&S gift to World Development and Relief.
    * There are over 175,000 contributors to the Mission and Service Fund.
    * The Mission and Service Fund makes it possible to budget close to $1.6 million each year for our church's mission and ministry with Africa.
    * The Mission and Service Fund supports 41 congregational youth ministries.
    * The Mission and Service Fund supports 32 overseas personnel in 11 countries.
    * The Mission and Service Fund helps with the training of close to 340 candidates for the ministry.
    * United Church Television, and particularly the Spirit Connection program which reaches more than 100,000 viewers, is supported by the Mission and Service Fund.

DIGITAL CAMERAS Are you trading up? Do you have a gently used and adequate digital camera that you would consider donating to the Nairobi Children’s Home and Hope House Babies’ Home in Kenya, for use in their record-keeping?
